International Women's Day is an occasion to reflect on the progress made and the challenges remaining in achieving gender equality. Celebrated globally on March 8th, it signifies persistent advocacy for rights, equality and empowerment of women. In 2026, the day marks an impressive 115 years of global efforts spanning grassroots movements, policy reforms and cultural shifts to promote gender justice. The theme of the United Nations for this year, "Rights. Justice. Action. For all women and girls," reflects the importance of safeguarding fundamental rights and ensuring justice for women everywhere.
The global campaign "Give to Gain" reinforces this message by emphasising the importance of sharing skills, knowledge and resources to uplift women and communities. To recognise this, Women’s Club, Anvitha organised a "Give to Gain" Knowledge Sharing Hour on March 8th among faculty. Faculty voluntarily shared their expertise in diverse areas such as AI tools, research communication, financial literacy, digital skills, leadership and stress management. This event developed a spirit of collaboration, learning and empowerment, showcasing how giving, whether skills, ideas, or support, can lead to mutual benefits. The initiative exemplifies the power of collective effort in advancing gender equality.
This act of giving empowers women and also builds resilient, informed communities prepared to champion equality at every level. Such sharing of knowledge reminds us that progress depends on our collective will to give, learn and act, creating a world where rights, justice and opportunities are accessible to all women and girls. All the female faculty, students and staff enthusiastically participated in the event.
