ACADEMIC COUNCIL
The Academic Council is the Highest Academic Functionary constituted as per clause 12.5 of the University Grants Commission Conferment of Autonomous Status upon Colleges and Measures and Maintenance of Standards in Autonomous Colleges, 2023.

Functions of Academic Council:
Subject to the existing provision in the bye-laws of the respective Autonomous College and rules laid down by the State Government/Parent University, the Governing Body shall:
- To exercise general supervision on the Academic endeavours of the institution and to provide guidance for the smooth functioning of the institution
- To consider the matters of Academic interests either as set initiatives or as per the recommendations of the Governing Body or the Board of Studies
- To take periodical review of the activities of the Departments / Centres and to take appropriate action for maintaining and improving standards of instruction and evaluation
- To suggest the Governing Body on the development of Infrastructural and Academic facilities needed for introduction of new courses and programs
- To monitor the maintenance of physical and digital resources of the institution from time to time and suggest measures for enhancement and improvement to the Governing Body
- To recommend to the Governing Body proposals for the institution of new programmes of study
- To scrutinise and approve the proposals with or without modification of the Board of Studies with regard to courses of study, academic regulations, curricula, syllabi and modifications thereof, instructional and evaluation arrangements, methods, procedures relevant thereto, etc.,
- To make regulations regarding the admission of students to different programmes of study in the Autonomous College, keeping in view the policy of the Government
- To make regulations for sports, extra-curricular activities, and proper maintenance and functioning of the playgrounds and hostels
- To recommend to the Governing Body institution of scholarships, studentships, fellowships, prizes, and medals, and to frame regulations for the award of the same
- To appoint department level and functional level sub committees in consultation with the Heads of the Departments
- To monitor the system of Assessment and Evaluation in the institution
- To maintain utmost transparency and integrity in the academics and examinations
- To advise the Governing Body on suggestions(s) pertaining to all Academicaffairs
- To perform such other functions as may be assigned by the Governing Body
- If the Academic Council differs on any proposal, it shall have the right to return the matter for reconsideration to the Board of Studies concerned or reject it, after giving reasons to do so.
